5 Basic Blogging Donts You Need To Avoid

5 Basic Blogging Donts

1.Do Not Plagiarize – If you take someone’s content then please know that the search engines are going to slap you down the flight of stairs we call the search engines. It’s just not very ethical to copy and paste someone’s words into your blog as you are taking credit for the work of others. It’s better to have original content as it is fine to get ideas from other websites but don’t go stealing their content.

2. Stealing Photos– A lot of people don’t know this but you cant go around taking photos left and right from the internet as this is illegal. You need to find royalty free images, with these type of photos you don’t need consent to use them . There are photos that you can use but you would need to provide a link giving credit to the person that provided you this photo. My advice would be to take your own photos or create them with Photoshop or a similar program.

3.Spamming Websites With Comments– If you leave a comment on a website and also leave a link of your website, this is considered spamming. First off you are not given the permission to do this by the owner of that website and also this will give a very bad rep to your website. Only people that are shameless will do this. Please reframe from doing this as you might be wasting your times as most website owners have an anti spam plugin installed meaning your comments will never reach that person website, simply because your comment will be considered a spam.

4.Foul Language– This one is a big one with me personally as if you want to own a website it is important to know that your face is on the internet and has the possibility of reaching a HUGE amount of people. This means that you need to speak in a semi professional manner because if you don’t then one you wont be as likeable and your blogs are not going to be read as much as we like. Remember you are targeting an audience and eventually you will want to connect with them on a one on one level. How will they take it if they see you cursing all them time ? They will not bother with you is as simple as that.

5. Do Not Speak In Hieroglyphics – Your audience is coming to your blog because they are interested in the topic you are writing about, right ? If you start talking with complicated words and become too scientific, you are going to have a very high bounce rate(people wont stay on your blog too much time). We want to interest our readers this way they are more likely to read other blogs which will deliver you the exposure that you need. The friendlier your post is the better chance you have to gain recognition.

I hope you found these tips useful as it’s important to get the best out of our blogs in the long haul. Staying out of trouble is always important and being professional is always a good thing. I dedicate myself to helping the ordinary person survive on the web and a good start is with the number one program I recommend Leave your comments as I would love to hear your thoughts on here as I’m always open for opinions.

Thank you Claire, if bloggers don’t understand this from an early time then they will have a difficult time

This is such an important topic!
It is sad to think that people would violate those points you make but it is all too common. This is also a great reminder for me as I work to create genuine content as well. I love reading other people’s content and then using one of their ideas that relates to something I want to write about.

    1. yunier gonzalez says:

I definitely agree joe! If you violate these points then it’s safe to say your online business wont have a good following.

Very important topics to address! It’s also good to note that taking images or materials from another site without permission can get you slapped with a cease and desist letter pretty quickly. You’re so right…it’s just easier to create your own or pay for the proper licensing.

    1. yunier gonzalez says:

exactly jenny, as long as you do the work and don’t take from other peoples site you will do awesome 🙂

Great Job Yunier, This is all very true and very important in creating content. And always treat it as a business, because it is your business so you need to take it serious. Your content needs to be as if you are talking to your client in person, think before you write, is that how you’d like to be approached in a conversation. If not then I’d rethink in writing the content. Great advice!

Thank you Jennifer ! That’s the big misconception when it comes to blogs as people think it’s just a way to voice your opinion but in reality it’s an image of you. It’s very important to treat your blogs very professionally as it will lead to some authority over time 🙂

Very useful points, sometimes it can be very difficult to come up with original content. In my field I try to read 3-4 articles on one particular subject then 2-3 days later write a summary and see if it makes sense. I tend to try and relate it to my own experience which helps.

    1. yunier gonzalez says:

Essentially that’s the best way as long as you provide your own opinion and experience to make it unique to your users and google you will be fine.

  8. Stu says:

Great advice here! Keep up the good work my man.

  9. Murray says:

Great points Yunier, thanks for the tips…Liked the hieroglphics one, sometimes we can get too technical explaining things and very easy to lose our readers.

    1. Thank you Murray, we as writers try too hard at times explaining such terms that we ignore what’s important and that’s the communication that must exist between us and our readers.

  10. Wendy says:

If someone wants to be successful with blogging then they definitely want to avoid these 5 don’ts. The first one is probably the most important because first of all it is wrong, but secondly your site will never ever rank with the search engines. This is a very useful article that will benefit many people.

    1. I’m glad you found this post useful Wendy as many people fail from the get go because they never are really taught the basics.
