How To Sell Books Online On Your Own And Stop Relying On Other Websites

My name is Yunier or better known as the owner of this website. To be truthful I’ve never written a book or sold a book but I do have experience within making money online and with some research I came to the realization that selling books is something anyone can do and not that much different from what I do. So how to sell books online, right ?

This website that you are currently in has helped many people get started with their own online business and even has helped them sell their own book that they have written. I will share today how is it that these people have been able to sell their books online.

Selling Books Is Easy

I don’t mean to upset any writers that are struggling to sell their books but selling books just isn’t that hard or maybe as hard as it will be on local bookstore. I for one don’t even go to bookstores to buy and if I do, how likely is it that I pick your book out of every book there ?

Yeah not likely ! Most people that go to a local bookstore aren’t in a buying mindset but more of a exploring type of mindset. Also, selling hard copies of books is such a drag ! For one, we are paying fees to rent a space for your book on a store.

Let’s get to it, time to reveal my 3 step method to selling books online.

Step 1 Get Your Very Own Website

If your goal is to sell books online then you will need your very own website. It’s a lot more than just selling books, it’s building your very own online business. Why do you need a website ?

This can be your very own platform where you can discuss many different types of books and even write articles based on these books that you would recommend or which you wouldn’t. This can attract many visitors who share the same type of passions in books. This will just bring more and more engagement to your website and your books.

Don’t even worry about if this will cost you as I will share with you where you can build your website for free. Let me share with you some website themes that you can actually choose from and build your website around.

How To Sell Books Online On Your Own And Stop Relying On Other Websites

Like any of these templates ? There are so many to choose from ! Maybe you already have an idea for your website name. This is an important first step towards opening your online business revolving around selling books online. Let’s take action together and get started with your website for free. Proceed by plugging in your desired website name below and you will have achieved your website.

Step 2 With Visitors Comes Exposure

Let’s put something in perspective for a split second. Ever wondered why some of the greatest author take so long for their writing careers to take off ? If you didn’t know authors struggle with this not because they aren’t good enough of a writer, in reality there are so many incredible writers that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. They don’t know how to market their books or even their articles.

This will be the most important sentence you will ever read, there is no chance of making money online if there is no traffic. Meaning visitors gives us the opportunity to make sales or in this case, sell books.

If there are no visitors coming in contact with your business then how much profit are you expected to make ? NONE. In the world of online business, you need to learn how to attract visitors towards your website to increase the probability of you making sales. If you already created your website then you also gained access to the wealthy affiliate community where you are taught everything you need to know about online business.

But if you haven’t taken action, don’t worry there’s no pressure or obligation but I think you will find it beneficial that you a look at my review of the wealthy affiliate community.

Step 3 Always Continue To Grow

The hardest thing about building your very own online business is the patience and determination that one must have. Many people think they will be rich overnight and that just isn’t the case, I’m sorry if I disappointed you. The reality is that it’s all a process but if you stick to it then I’m pretty sure you will reap the benefits of your hard work.

It’s important to have a vision and just continue on your path to reach this destination. At times this path traveled isn’t so easy but with the right assistance and help anything is possible. This is why wealthy affiliate is a community with thousandths of experts of the online world, I’m more than certain that you will find some very helpful advice and tips that you can apply to your business, I certainly have .

Awesome advice mate! I’ve been looking into publishing my own ebook on social media marketing just recently – do you have any tips on keyword research for book titles ( as far as stores like Amazon are concerned )

    1. hey there Chris,

it’s good to hear that you found my advice useful ! As far as keyword research on book titles is concerned I haven’t done this yet but It’s just like any keyword research, I would head to amazon and figure out what are the popular books there and sort their popularities by category. Once i find this bit of information out I would start researching a bit more to see what is it that people are typing in the search engines.

    1. Thank you dany !

It’s always good to hear that someone likes my article (:

    hi Yunier
Hmmm I have school books that I am not using anymore and have been trying to sell them on Amazon forever! I had not thought at all to sell them on my site. However, the books are not related to my niche so I would have to think about it. and I am assuming here that one would need to add plug ins for a shopping cart?

    1. It’s always an excellent choice to sell your books on your own website specially if it’s niche related. I have a plug in that i can recommend it’s e-commerce. Actually some wordpress themes come with this plug in as these themes revolve around selling via e-commerce.

Very interesting article…I tried at one time to sell books online and at that time i tried to sell them on eBay..i went to a charity shop and hunted for books..bought about 25 books in total and didn’t sell anything ha ha! i like what you have to say and agree that having your own website is the best way to go with making money online.

    1. Haha pete we all learn from experience ! Next time you want to start selling books online I’m sure you’ll get your own website.

    That’s right Yunier!
Why would we rely on other websites IF we can create our own and build lists of people to buy the books. This way is much better I would say, because we can keep track on the lists and perhaps do some remarketing 🙂

    1. Exactly edy,

I’m glad you agree with me because if we just sell our books to another website we are losing out on a lot of potential profits. We want to own a online business not be the profit for someone else’s.

  7. Keye says:

I know some people who use Amazon Kindle Direct Program to promote or sell their books. Do you also suggest it?

    1. yes kindle is an excellent choice for books to promote on a book selling website .

    1. Hello rob,

Hey Yunier, I liked your site. I like your writing style, it is engaging and made me feel like you were talking to me. I also found what you said about not making money over night encouraging as well. It’s nice to hear from people who are the real deal 🙂

    1. Hi Kayli,

It’s true the process of making money online just doesn’t happen over night but if you practice at it theres no telling how much you will actually make.

  12. Maureen says:

Lot of good information and you are so right about no dumb questions. The only dumb question is the one not asked. I realize online books are the future but there is nothing better than to curl up at night and read a hard covered book. I am showing my age with that comment(lol)
Having your own website is key to having an online business. Your own website gives you control over the content that you post.
Another point that you made that I totally agree with is the fact that making money online is a lot of hard work and that journey becomes easier when you have help. Good luck with your journey and thanks for the info!

    1. Haha Maureen I really enjoy your nice words and humour! Age shouldn’t hold someone back in online business world as you would have your own taste to share with world ! People tend to have this idea that making money online just happens at the snap of your finger and that just isn’t the case.

It does take hard work but i can assure you that your hard work will make you successful.

Hello yunier, this is excellent post. I am a book lover and reader. That said, I am baffled to read so many books and then create a pre-sell literature. Is it not exhausting to create content to read the book and then promote? What do you think?

    1. Hello there rajashri ! I personal find reading fun as I always try to learn something new. I find it that once you read a book you can quickly write up a review on it in a very detailed fashion that will simply fascinate your audience !

  14. online music makers says:

Wonderful post but I was wanting to know if you could write
a litte more on this topic? I’d be very grateful
if you could elaborate a little bit more. Bless you!

    1. I probably will dive into this topic a little further down the line but if you have any specific question i’ll be more than glad to help you out.
